Pre-Surgery Physiotherapy Appointment
[ Thursday October 22nd 2026 at 11:57 am ]

I have finished my pre-surgery physiotherapy appointment. This was time well spent. Since we had this appointment in April 2026 the physiotherapist wanted to know exactly what I needed to go over with him. We reviewed the physiotherapy for the initial 14 days of having an artificial knee joint. Day 14 is around the time frame when I should start attending an outpatient physiotherapy clinic. This all made sense to me. The physiotherapist gave me a handout so we aren't relying on my memory and that I am doing the stretches correctly. Each stretch in the handout has a written description and a diagram.

The other thing I needed to talk over is how to prevent the complete lost of motion in my knee joint. This happened with my right knee joint when it was replaced in April 2026. I couldn't make my right artificial knee joint move for 3 days. It was incredibly hard trying to get to my toilet and getting my meals during this time. I have a lot of experience with hip surgeries. This experience isn't translatable to knee joints. It is a much slower process. Now that I know this I can do it differently this time around.
