My Surgeon Stopped By My Hospital Room To Check On Me

I just had a pleasant surprise. My surgeon has come to check on me. I sent him a very short e-mail just after I finished eating my lunch to say "thank you". I haven't had a migraine headache since my operation. I am so grateful for my quality of life improving. He hadn't read this yet. I was able to say "thank you" in person.
I explained that I tried walking in the hall yesterday. He was initially really happy. But then I experienced my knee pain. I need the physiotherapy process to go slower. My surgeon supports this. I am allowed to irk the hospital physiotherapist by going at my pace and my surgeon will back me up.
My surgeon will come check on Monday afternoon when he finishes operating. We will talk about how my ability to walk is progressing. I explained I plan to walk just before supper and again once the ward staff have the elderly patients in bed for night. He found this funny and started laughing. But he understands the practical logistics of the staffing needs.
My surgeon wanted to see the surgical site. There is some bruising. This is to be expected. The remainder looks much better than my left side following my April 2025 revision surgery. I have an artificial hip that is healing and my incision is closing that are both on track right now.
I teased my surgeon by asking why he wasn't wearing shorts. He said he just finished operating and can't wear shorts in the operating room. Then I asked if I could change the topic for a minute. He was fine with this. I told him how my hamster started chirping when my neighbour gave him lettuce and how this means my hamster was in the height of hamster ecstasy. Then I said I am so glad my little fella is being cared for. My surgeon knows my hamster has a big piece of my heart.
