Feeling Rested In The Hospital

I sat in a chair for breakfast. I like to stay sitting for an hour to help my food digest. Then I needed more rest. I woke up refreshed about 2½ hours later. There is a supportive device I use to get my leg that had the hip replacement revision surgery in and out of bed. I found this really hard to do when my hips were replaced in 2013 and 2015. But with the challenges of the past 2 months I am easily able to tolerate the pain. It was incredibly difficult to keep taking a few steps around my home in the weeks before the surgery. But doing this has paid off. Getting in and out of bed isn't near the struggle it was 10 years ago. I just ate my lunch. After my stomach settles I am going to learn how to walk some more.
My hospital room mate was struggling with the unknown of his health care treatment on the day I arrived. He has a very serious case of cellulitis. I kept quiet. Yesterday I spoke up to him and gently nudged him into realizing the orthopedic ward staff want to be a partner in his health treatment. It took some examples to get him to understand. As soon as he first woke up this morning he asked me about this again. It is obvious he was thinking about what I said when he awake during the night. I said to him as long as you are willing to take your turn they will help you. He is so much more relaxed today and much easier to have as a room mate today. Amazing the power of a few well thought sentences.
