Ordered Cell Phone Service

I have been thinking about what I need in place in order to attend medical appointments for my knees. I have been referred to a knee surgeon in Ottawa. It is clear I am going to need a cell phone provider with being this far away from home and that my medical appointments will require an overnight stay in Ottawa. The use of a cell phone will help me coordinate travel on the para-transit service in Ottawa, hotel stay, food to eat and if I need anything purchased using a service like Door Dash. This will be especially helpful when I am away from home.

I had cell phone service for a month in June 2024. I was away over night to spend time with a close friend in Montreal. I didn't continue with the cell phone service when the month I paid for expired. My lifestyle didn't need this. However I have continued to use the cell phone with WiFi. It has been a lot more useful than I had expected. Now with my physical disability continuing to deteriorate and the number of my medical appointments (including surgeries) I am needing this.

I have done some research. I have found I am able to get a 3 GB "data only" cell phone provider customized plan for $10 CAD a month. The phone provider I have uses "voice over IP". They have an Android app. This uses data to make and receive phone calls. I will be able to use this with the 3 GB of data. I will be able to continue using this. With all this in mind I think this will work really well for me. I have paid for a SIM card. It should arrive within a few days.
