Self Administered Intramuscular Magnesium Injection
[ Tuesday May 17th 2022 at 5:31 pm ]

When I started using magnesium bisglycinate (an oral version of magnesium) I was told an intramuscular injection could be an option if the oral version brings substantial relief but not quite enough. It did make an immediate change for the best. But over the past 8 weeks the pain in the quad muscle has been getting worse. I am just not getting enough done in a day. There has been a few times where I've barely been able to get my evening meal because of how bad my hips and knees have been. I've been seriously questioning how close to the "line" I am getting to where I won't be able to keep myself alive.

I have again thought of and decided to pursue an intramuscular injection of magnesium to see if it would help the muscle pain around my hips. I both badly need the pain relief and the increased function so I am not wasting my life. The only catch is that there is only 1 doctor who is able to perform the intramuscular injection at a hospital 75 minutes from my home. I just can't wait for a referral and be see. Since it has been required that I perform subcutaneous injections to prevent blood clots following 4 of my hip surgeries, I know the safe injection sites used around the hip joint away from veins and I know in detail how to perform an intramuscular injection I have decided to perform this on myself. I will see if this makes a difference.
