Squirrel Inspection
[ Tuesday May 17th 2022 at 12:05 pm ]

On Sunday I found what appears to be storm damage that allowed a squirrel access to my kitchen attic. I couldn't see this as it was developing because the rental income tenants at my neighbours home to the west had a portable awning setup in their driveway. This made the north - west corner of my home inaccessible to me. But the 2 technicians specifically told me that their service is not carpenters and that the repair of this hole goes beyond their scope of their work.

I responded with "what would you be doing?" Their response to me was that a wire mesh would be installed where fascia normally go covering the hole and installing a one way door for the squirrel to leave. Then I'd need to get a separate quote for a general contractor to permanently repair the hole giving the squirrel access to my kitchen attic. I found this unusual. I actually asked them again to confirm that the repair quote you'd be receiving would not involve a permanent repair to my home. They confirmed this.

One of my friends did roof installations to pay for his Bible college studies. I will approach him to see if he is able to do a permanent repair. In the meanwhile simply evicting the squirrel would be helpful to me. I now wait to hear if discretionary benefits are willing to fund this.
