A Conversation With An Engineer For The Flooding On My Property
[ Tuesday March 26th 2019 at 10:36 pm ]

A friend brought his dad to my home this evening for a discussion. His dad is an engineer. I requested this.

Much of my backyard flooded a few weeks ago as the snow melted. This is the first time. I am sorting through how to address this in a responsible way. Last summer the home north of mine touching the rear properly line was torn down. I am willing to bet that property grade changed during deconstruction and I've inherited the water.

Ideally I am wanting to permanently resolve this. This is opposed to just passing on the water. I am learning the ins and outs of the options available from simple containment to the most robust solution. It is quickly become apparent to me that my decision to address this will be based on the amount of money I am able to spend on this.

The challenge of this is water backed up into my shed. I am wanting to finish the shed off for year round use and use it as an office for myself. This is to best manage my physical needs since I can't use the upstairs of my home. I've got a lot to think about. Gathering facts at this point is helpful. I have a few more questions for specific people in order to make the best decision possible.
