Mobility Scooter And Mobility Scooter Trailer Delivery
[ Friday August 10th 2018 at 10:07 am ]

My new mobility scooter and mobility scooter trailer has been delivered to my home! I am so pleased. I can tell this is going to improve my quality of life.

This has been weeks in the planning. I took on the responsibility of importing this from the United States. Doing so has saved me about $2,000. Additionally someone in the community who knows of me offered to pick this up a United States border city. This also saved me about $2,100 in shipping costs.

Before I begin using this in my day to day life I am planning several upgrades. These are all around the theme of giving me the functionality I need and the structural integrity to last me throughout the next 10 years. Some of these upgrades include:

  • Applying an undercoating to protect from rust
  • Adding gusset plates to reinforce the welds and prevent the frame from tweaking
  • Adding a waterproof stereo system so I may enjoy some quiet music when I go for a drive using the mobility scooter for some quiet time
  • Upgrading the dashboard with a GPS speedometer - odometer so I may plan for routine maintenance and a digital battery meter giving me a clear indication of the battery power and the reasonable distance I may use this for
  • Adding a pair of USB charging ports to power my video camera, giving me the ability to power USB devices in the event of a power outage and add any number of USB powered accessories
  • Adding a 12 volt vehicle power outlet adapter giving me the option for any practical accessories I may need in the future
  • Adding red and orange LED lighting to the mobility scooter trailer
  • Applying outdoor carpet to the mobility scooter trailer for carrying my purchases home
  • Sewing a waterproof cover to protect the mobility scooter and trailer when it isn't in use

Although this is going to take me several weeks to complete each of the modifications is very practical. I don't have the financial means of affording a vehicle plus the costs of insurance and maintenance this causes. With the list of modifications completed and routine maintenance this will be a true asset to my quality of life for many years to come.
