Preparing And Freezing Meals Prior To My Physiotherapy Intake Appointment
[ Sunday November 6th 2016 at 12:48 am ]

I've been thinking over the past week about all the setbacks I've experienced. I haven't regained my mobility after having my hip joints replaced. My right knee joint has really hindered my recovery process.

I am willing to start fresh with the physiotherapist in five days from now. I need to have my personal affairs in order so if the physiotherapy sets me back again I am not pre-occupied "putting out fires". In other words I want to set myself up for success and be "all in" to give the physiotherapy the best hopes of succeeding and my mobility restored.

I am about 70% done preparing and freezing a months worth of meals. I really enjoy cooking. I have great memories of being 7 years old and my mother and grandmother beginning to teach me about cooking.

The types of meals I am preparing are:

  • Chicken and vegetable soup
  • BBQ burger, peas and baked potato
  • Turkey dinner
  • Turkey soup
  • Meat loaf

I have many freezer - oven - dishwasher safe glass containers. They have a plastic lid with a rubber seal. After the lid is removed I put them in the oven at 350° F for 40 minutes. After I finish eating they are cleaned in my counter top dishwasher. I purchased a bunch in 2012. I've purchased more today. I am going to buy about 10 more tomorrow for the final bit of meal preparation presently occurring.

This system works really well for me. I enjoy cooking. It takes my mind off the challenges I've been enduring.
