Sump Pump Is Changed

My new sump pump is now installed. What a process this has been. When it initially powered on the impeller immediately jammed with some sediment that was in my sump pump pit. DeWalt technical support took me through the process of cleaning it and was very helpful in guiding me with a setup that would avoid this happening in the future. The technician was truly wonderful.

There is still more work to do. I am going to have help giving my basement a thorough cleaning. This is to avoid the sump pump from jamming in the future resulting in my basement flooding. I think the preventative maintenance is worth it. This house requires a sump pump to protect my furnace and water heater. It isn't a room in my home that I use on account of my physical disability. It will be good to have this done for my peace of mind.

I am also setting up an Arduino to monitor my sump pump. This will alert me to when the sump pump is running, if it jams, when the sump pump begins to weaken and also manage a battery backup. I am enjoying working on this programming. I was initially just wanting an alert if the sump pump didn't shut off. When I realized the potential of the Arduino I decided to expand the programming to be more comprehensive. This is for my peace of mind and in a practical sense if I need someone to service it for me.

Overall I am pleased. My new sump pump has a 10 year warranty. Once setup I won't need to think about this for quite a while. It is time well spent. I am taking care of my home so my home will take care of me.
