Preparing For Ethernet In The Shed
[ Saturday September 24th 2022 at 3:00 pm ]

I have continued working on my plans for Ethernet in the shed. I have been thinking about the practical issues involved in having several Ethernet jacks spread throughout the shed with where the wires will terminate and connect to a switch. I have settled on a plan that will work. Now I am focusing on the connection between the computer network switch and where the wires terminate. There is more than one way of doing this. I've decided to use 4 gang junction boxes with a 4 keystone decorate plate insert. In common English this involves wiring up each jack and inserting it into the face plate. The decora style has become common plate in electricity. It will be easy to source the components for this. I believe I will be able to do the Ethernet jack wiring while sitting. My friend Joe is happy to do the physical installation of the wires as they pass through the attic to the various Ethernet junction boxes in the shed. I have a plan. I am hoping this will execute well. From everything I know this makes sense to me.
