An Appointment With My Family Doctor
[ Monday May 15th 2017 at 7:00 pm ]

I've just finished an appointment with my family doctor. The time was well spent. I know my family doctor cares. But in the end we've agreed to disagree on a diagnosis for my knee joints pending the results of the upcoming MRI imaging of my knee joints.

  • My family doctor thinks the pain is a knee tendon and pain caused by not having enough use of my knee joints.
    • I disagree. I've creatively already worked through the pain caused by not using my knee joints. Also I own a physiotherapy ultrasound unit. On December 9th 2016 I demonstrated to a physiotherapist the tendon pain had been resolved.
  • The set of symptoms matches a chondral knee joint. If I am correct this amounts to my knee joint being worn out. I am wanting to be wrong. I have the metal acuity to evaluate what is presented to me. I've had 12 years of dealing with my body and have learned the skill of interpreting the pain I feel.

In either case overall the physiotherapy I do will help me. I asked my family doctor what he wanted me to try. We agreed upon me using a recumbent exercise bike for 2 minutes every other day with no tension. This could progress over time. I am willing to try this. I have my doubts if this will work. But I want the facts to speak for themselves.

My family doctor also did the new prescriptions for my pain medication. A new idea has been brought forward. It is to prescribe pain medication by the week and have people filling their pain medications on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to avoid statutory holidays. The idea is to bring more stability and improve the quality of life for those who live with chronic pain. I think this is a good idea. I encouraged my family doctor to adopt this for his practice. I am well organized. It isn't going to directly benefit me. I can see that it will help many people who don't have the working skill set I have developed over the years.

After the para transit vehicle drives me home I will load my gym bag onto my wheelchair and transport myself to the gym. I want to try the recumbent exercise bike this evening and see how it goes. I also plan to use the swimming pool.
