Deep Cleaning My Home
[ Friday May 12th 2017 at 5:20 pm ]

Over the past 6 months I've got to know a group of respectful youth. The connection is the same gym as I use. I make use the pool during the 7 PM to 8 PM time slot. They arrive around 8 PM and stay until 10 PM. After I finish in the pool and dry off I've been making use of the conditioning center equipment to do what exercises I am able with my legs.

One of them came to my home this afternoon. I made him an after school snack. Then he helped me do some cleaning I've been unable to do myself because of the very basic bending and lifting involved. When he left I accompanied him using my power wheelchair as he walked to a thrift shop about 5 minutes from my home. I donated 4 bags worth of linens and clothing. These have boxed up at my home for several years.

It has been one of my goals to deep clean my home for several months. It has been several years since I've been able to do this. The harsh reality is that my hip and knee issues have kept me from this. It has been beyond my physical abilities. This isn't to mention that I've only had a few good hours each day for several years. Unfortunately deep cleaning didn't make it to the top of my 'to do' list.

I figure my life is about as stable as it is going to go for the next few years. It is time to tackle this. After making only very minimal progress over the past few months I asked some of the youth if they would help me. Initially one or two of them is coming periodically to help me one on one. Then a group will come over to re-organize the layout of my furniture. It is obvious there is no immediate resolution to my health care challenges. I don't expect one in the near future. 2017 has become about re-calibrating my life.
