Replaced Drinking Water Filter Cartridges
[ Saturday April 2nd 2022 at 3:24 pm ]

I have just finished changing the 5 stage drinking water filter cartridges. Much of this very frustrating. But it has ended with comic relief.

Changing the various cartridges wasn't too bad. Plumbing isn't my favourite trade. I know how. But I don't like making messes with water. Water is very destructive when not contained.

After changing the cartridges the water ran for a short while but then stopped. I had no idea why. I spent the following 3 hours troubleshooting. I missed the big yellow arrow showing the direction stage #4 is to be installed. When installed backwards it acts as a one way valve.

However when checking stage #2 I had a routine accident. The rubber gasket got pinched and stretched rendering it useless. It is a routine occurrence in plumbing. I will try to get a replacement locally. In the meanwhile I will source one from the supplier in the United States and see if I can get a water tight connection before a replacement arrives from the supplier.

The comic relief happened when troubleshooting. At one point with stage #4 acting as a one way valve I got sprayed in the face with 40 degree F water. It was slap stick comedy at it's finest. I've done what I can for today.
