Changed Weather Station Dehydration Beads
[ Wednesday October 27th 2021 at 6:13 pm ]

I just did some maintenance on my weather station. I've changed the water absorbing beads in preparation for the coming winter. They are a part of my air dehydration system. I have a pair of 12 volt desktop computer fans that circulates the air. The humidity in the air gets absorbed by the beads. The beads are similar in nature to what commercially available diapers use to absorb urine. They are able to handle many times more their weight in moisture and expand. Typically 1/16" beads expand to become 3/8". This should be fine for the next several months. I will likely give them a stir mid winter.
