Signed The Patient Chart Transfer For My New Family Doctor

I have now signed the legal document for a copy of my patient chart to be transferred to my new family doctor. I need this to happen. This provides the supporting documentation that I have exhausted all of the conservative therapy for my knee joints.
I am disappointed in my family doctor concerning this:
- When I first approached him with news that I made arrangements for the family doctor office two blocks from my home to take me on as a patient he proactively told me they used the same computer system for record keeping as he does and provided my patient chart could be transferred electronically I would not be charged for this. He proceeded to write down the name of the computer program on a piece of paper for me to confirm this was still the case.
- During an appointment three weeks later my family doctor back tracked: He stated this was unnecessary and would virtually never be used by a future family doctor. Yet during appointments with him I have referred back to previous records.
I have found this unacceptable. Although I am hoping he will not hassle me and honor his commitment to do this if necessary I will stand up for myself and go to the powers that be.
