Living Life In A Wheelchair

Pedestrian Warning Sign Added
[ Thursday February 23rd 2017 at 6:10 pm ]

A few weeks ago I was nearly hit by an automobile. A drive wasn't paying attention exiting a local bank parking lot as I drove past on the sidewalk using my power wheelchair. I sent a message to the bank asking that they give consideration of what options exist for pedestrian safety. This evening I see the branch has just added a bright yellow warning sign to draw attention to pedestrian safety.

I periodically see things that need attention. There are different times you don't know there is a problem until you are in the situation. For example wheelchairs require sidewalks to transition to the street grade in a slope, not a step down. It is things like this that a person who doesn't have a physical handicap may not think of or realize the value of this. I speak up when it is warranted.
