Laser Engraver Ventilation Fan Is Here!
[ Tuesday May 5th 2020 at 1:01 pm ]

I am really happy right now. The fan I'm using for venting my laser engraver has been delivered! I've been waiting the better part of 3 weeks for this to arrive. The mail service is extraordinarily slow right now due to Covid 19 and people turning to online shopping. The current immediate biggest hindrance is the laser engraver triggering my smoke detectors because they are just so sensitive. (In a very technical sense etching photos on wood with a laser is a form of wood burning.) Once the duct work arrives it will be a huge weight off my shoulders. I was originally going to use a cooking range ventilation fan. But in practical terms this was going to be extraordinarily hard to mount above the laser engraver. Instead I purchased a fan typically used for a green house. I fabricated a transition bracket to connect this onto a VESA bracket so I could use a monitor stand that is typically anchored to the edge of a desk. I am in good shape to get this hooked up over the next few days. It is wonderful seeing my plans come together. This isn't to mention this fulfills my life mission to use things in ways they were never originally designed for!
