Hamster Shavings Delivery

Great news! The hamster shavings I ordered have been delivered. This is the first step to getting a pet hamster. In a few days the food will be here. I am really looking forward to this.
I had a pet cat for a few years. When I went for my double hip surgery in June 2009 I didn't recover as expected. I was away from my home for 5½ months. My pet cat couldn't cope. He started peeing everywhere. This caused a lot of damage. I had to put him down. Even though I had arranged care for him it just wasn't enough for the cat's mental health.
While my life is in transition for the next few years a pet hamster is a good option. It is extremely easy to temporarily re-home if I am offered knee surgery. By the time a hamster dies I will have a sense of my life, my abilities and my limits. At that time I will re-assess if I could have another pet cat. Right now it is too much for me. A hamster will be wonderful to hold and pet while I am a weak. He will be able to take care of himself when I need to rest or as I attend my medical appointments.
