Jacket Is Back On My Hot Water Tank

A friend has just stopped by to give me some practical help. He has added the jacket back onto my hot water tank. This had to be removed for the maintenance in December. Since the maintenance is complete and the hot water tank is no longer leaking it is time for this to be reinstalled.

Electric hot water tanks may have a jacket added to them in order to further reduce heat loss. This isn't an option for natural gas or propane based due to the risk of fire. The jacket increases the energy efficiency of my hot water tank. The heat from warm water won't "bleed" off as fast by using this. I invested in the jacket several years ago to help my money go further. It has long since paid for itself and now saves me money each month.

Since the jacket was off the tank I took extra step to help me going forward. I've sewed up a pair of straps with buck clips. This is the same idea as what is used with a back pack. Now the jacket may be easily removed and reinstalled going forward. Previously I was using foil tape. Each the tank had to be accessed this had to be cut and re-applied. I wish I had this idea years ago. I am very pleased.
