A Wonderful Christmas Meal
[ Monday December 24th 2018 at 8:15 pm ]

Today started off hard for me but has ended well. My pain was very flared up. I didn't have enough quality sleep. I had to rest until 1:45PM. Thankfully I've been able to attend my planned Christmas celebration with a family in the area. I am so glad I did. I really enjoy getting out. I enjoy the fellowship.

There is a fine balance in all this. I need to be able to take care of my body. I need to have enough rest to function. There is the issue of maintaining good personal hygiene. I need to moderate my energy. It doesn't do me any good to exhaust myself. I need to manage my pain carefully picking what activities I engage in in any 5 day range. The cumulative effect of activities effects me. There is a set of education. Then it comes down to trial and error. Thankfully I am 13 years into this and have a grasp of what my limits are.

The challenge of exceeding your limits (even for someone who is able body) is that it begins to 'bleed' into other areas of your life. For example: Lack of proper sleep affects concentration. If you exhaust yourself it affects your emotions. Even able body individuals need the same skill I've developed out of necessity. The difference is with an able body adult there is more of a buffer. I find there is a razer thin margin of error. If I begin to exceed my limits I know about it quickly and it takes my body a few days to rebound.
