Purchased New 10 Year Smoke - Carbon Monoxide Detectors

My smoke detectors needing replacing. I just spent 45 minutes looking at the models of smoke detectors currently available. I've purchased replacements for mine.

The model I've decided on come with a Lithium battery. The battery doesn't need to be changed every 6 months. With my physical disability this is one less chore I need to have someone help me with.

It also has a 10 year service life. In terms of budgeting what this means is setting aside $1 each month for each of the 4 smoke detectors. This will give me sufficient funds to buy replacements and hire an electrician to change them in 10 years.

One of the installation instructions says to label the smoke detectors when they need to be replaced. I have high strength label cassettes for my label maker. I've used this to make up a label to show when they must be replaced by. Either this will be a reminder for myself or if I sell the house this will be left for the new home owners.
