Attended "Club 50+"

I was asked if I would like to attend a drop in for those 50 years old and older at the health centre where I took the course this summer and attend the seated exercise program.  I decided to give it a try.  When I first started attending I told them about me with the intention that they would tell me the programs that would likely be a good match for me.  When this was suggested to me I thought I'd give it a try.

I've had a really wonderful time.  A group of us played the card game "Rummoli".  Two of the people who played also attend the seated exercise program.  It was really nice having a friendly face.  This reminded me of when I was young.  The last time I played this was when I was in my early teens with my immediately family.

This is something I will want to attend again  It happens twice a month.  The time won't always be spent playing games.  November 2018 is 'Fall Prevention Month'.  One of the November sessions will be going over the strategy to prevent this and recover from this.  Even though this group is for people older than myself I face many of the same challenges seniors face.  I deem it as time well spent.

The last time fall prevention and recovery was taught to me was in 2009.  This is well worth my time attending.  I periodically fall backwards as soon as I stand up to transfer from my wheelchair.  If I am able to attend at least 1 more time before the fall prevention session it will be with a group of people I'm getting to know.  None the less a teaching session such as this will be in a group of under 20 people.  There would be the opportunity to ask questions.  I am not shy about speaking up and asking for clarification.
