Signed Up For My Left Knee Replacement
[ Tuesday October 6th 2026 at 12:11 pm ]

The surgeon who replaced both of my artificial hip joints last year and my right knee joint earlier this year resigned. He has relocated and is now teaching the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons how to perform joint replacement surgeries. I have just concluded the appointment with my new surgeon. The surgeon I had was good to his word. He prepared a detailed referral to continue my care. My new surgeon initially said he had talked to my previous surgeon before correcting himself that it was a referral. In addition to gaining confidence to replace my left knee joint my new surgeon acted as if he knew me. It is obvious the surgeon I had did an honourable job preparing this and advocating for me.

Once again I am in the unenviable position of needing a surgery at an age where it is less than ideal and where the symptoms don't follow the well trodden medical knowledge. However I have done every possible intervention to avoid the need for my left knee joint to replaced. I can't take the nausea and dizziness the deterioration is causing me. Based on my right knee replacement surgery being successful we are going to replace my left knee joint. The goal is January 2027. This will give me another 3 months of physiotherapy to continue building up my right knee joint in preparation for the recovery of my left knee joint being replaced.

To the best of my ability to do so I am happy with this appointment. I certainly would never recommend anyone have to contend with the circumstances I am experiencing. But I don't get mentally paralyzed when having to make a decision that is the lesser of all evils.
