Modified A Garbage Bin To Make A Composter

A few weeks ago I saw a video on youTube that inspired me. This idea of making a composter out of a garbage bin. It simply needed holes drilled for ventilation on the sides and holes in the bottom for worms to enter to speed up the compost process. I had one caveat I was only willing to do this with #2 plastic. It is my understanding that #2 plastic is food grade. I do have serious concerns about leaching chemicals if other plastics are used.

I purchased a commercial Rubbermaid garbage bin from my local Home Depot Canada for this project. It included free delivery. I have just finished drilling the ventilation and worm access holes. This was really enjoying. I haven't been able to tinker for over a year. I am so pleased with the results. I am also so grateful that I haven't lost my skills and ability to do this type of thing. I really enjoy this type of thing when I am able to do it.

The last step of this is digging a hole roughly 30" x 30" x 3". This is to bury the base of the garbage bin. The idea is to make this appealing for worms to enter and begin their part of the composting process. I am going to ask for help. I can't dig this myself because of the very degraded state of my knee joints. I am confident a friend will help me do this.
