Back To The Emergency Department For My Diarrhea, Nausea And Pain

I have returned to the emergency department of my local help for further assistance. It was an 11 hour wait. The time passed quickly. It was actually pleasant. I talked to another married couple in their 70's while waiting for about 6 hours. Then I spent time working towards getting caught up on my blog.
The emergency department doctor and I focused on my diarrhea first. The most likely cause of the diarrhea at this point is my own fault with a lack of knowledge:
- I ate foods that prevented a recovery from diarrhea happening
- I didn't know to use a probiotic to help my gut reset and not over-react when I eat
- The anti inflammatory medication for the swelling around my knee makes diarrhea much worse because of the stomach liner medication component of this drug affects someone already experiencing diarrhea. It is very hard on the stomach when the stomach is compromised.
These are reasons why it has got worse. It makes sense. The good news is that this is able to be treated and I should recover.
I am needing to have a colonoscopy. I am not concerned about this happening. The motivation is ruling things out. They are not expecting a bad finding. This is for due diligence. Prior to my time with the emergency department doctor I had blood work. There aren't indicators of illness in my blood work. Without a personal medical history or bowel ailments in my family it is unlikely that concerning findings will result.
The skin on my bum is degraded from wiping myself on account of all the diarrhea. The emergency department doctor checked. I don't have an infection. This is easily managed and should be easy to treat. I am able to make a full recovery. It has been really hard having diarrhea 8 to 14 times a day during the past week.
It will be the same doctor that does the colonoscopy that did my stomach on August 5th 2025. I am very grateful for this. When I was talking about this with the emergency department doctor I really connected the emergency department doctor. We were thinking in similar terms with one another. The pace of the conversation matched my mental aptitude.
I reviewed the protocol to manage the nausea I am experiencing. The impression I have is that it is partly caused by diarrhea and partly caused by my knee worsening when it has popped followed by very severe pain during these past few weeks.
The emergency department doctor will gladly contact my surgeon to see me again. My right knee joint requires the specialized care of my surgeon. Also the emergency department doctor very much complimented me on how well I am able to articulate what is happening with my health and for my ability to manage a chronic condition.
I am satisfied. The emergency department doctor has done his best to treat me. I merit effort. As well he was pleasant. It was as if I was the first patient he saw today. This particular emergency department doctor is in the top 3 I have been seen by for emergency treatment following my artificial hip revision surgeries in 2025.
