The Operation To Replace My Right Artificial Hip Is Scheduled
[ Tuesday November 25th 2025 at 2:32 pm ]

The operating room scheduler has called.

I have to be up at 4:45 a.m. and to the hospital for my operation at 6:00 a.m. My operation will start at 8:15 a.m. That 2 hour 15 minute window is to get me changed, have an appointment with the anesthetist, speak to my surgeon and do some blood work to ensure I am healthy enough to have surgery. There is a special soap to wash my body with that helps prevent an infection I need to use. The hotel surprised me with a shower chair and a clamp on the tub to help me get in and out for extra support. I didn't ask for this. I am very glad they did this. I can only stand for maybe 45 seconds right now. It is my knees that are worse today.

Between my 2015 surgery and my operation in April 2025 the same antibacterial medicine in the soap is now available in the same format as a baby wipe. My body will be wiped down for a third time to kill bacteria. I will have to grow some new bacteria on my skin after I've had the surgery.

My operation starts at 8:15 a.m. It is will finish sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

I've spent most of today in bed. The artificial hip that is being replaced swelled about 8 cm or 3-1/4 inches from the travel. I am glad it comes out tomorrow. I can barely manage to sit long enough to eat my meals today.

I am looking forward to having my operation and getting the damn artificial hip out of my body. It was truly wonderful in 2015. But once the grinding noise and it attacking me started in December 2023 it never recovered. It has been a right proper nuisance for the past 23½ months.
