A Friend Has Invited Me For Homemade Pizza And To Celebrate Christmas With Their Family

Something special has just happened. One of my friends started messaging me a few minutes ago. He wants to invite me over for homemade pizza next weekend and to celebrate Christmas with his family. I am looking forward to both.

Before the pandemic a group of us gathered at his home each Friday evening for pizza and fellowship. I really enjoyed this. It was sad when this had to end. But there was so much risk for a group of up to 30 to gather inside. It came to an abrupt end. My friend Brandon received a pizza oven for Father's Day. We are going to try and make it cook a pizza. This should be great fun. He has only had mediocre success up until now.

As for Christmas this will be the first time in since 4 years ago when I will have celebrated Christmas with other people. Two of the past three Christmas I was in bed courtesy of my damn artificial hip injuring me and my knee pain being out of control. I had no energy. The pain I was experiencing was just wasting me and draining me for everything I had to give. Sadly on the other Christmas my last remaining grandparent died. She was 97 years old. She had been having mini strokes during the past 5 months. Finally "critical mass" had been reached and she drifted away peacefully. She was 97 years old. This wasn't sad. But after my aunt dying from cancer a few years ago it reminded me of how fragile life is. It didn't feel like Christmas. In fact I still have some of my Christmas cards to open from the past few years. I am going to bring these with me to open. It will be really nice to have a meal with others on Christmas day.
