My Renewed Accessible Parking Permit Arrived
[ Monday July 29th 2024 at 9:35 pm ]

Six weeks ago I went into my local Service Ontario location to renew my accessible parking permit. They gave me a temporary permit that expires after 90 days and told me the permanent one would come in the mail. It is here. I am so glad about this.

The reason this makes me so happy is because there are two ways this helps improve my quality of life:

  • This helps when my friends take me out to do a chore. Parking near a store entrance makes a bonafide improvement to my quality of life. I own a manual wheelchair. It is like Lego. It compacts for travel. No special tools are required when assembling it together for use. This gives friends the ability to take me out shopping. Alternatively I also use my crutches some of the time and am dropped off at the door. It all depends on what is planned and how long the activity will take.
  • Here in Ontario Canada there is legislation that deems anyone with an accessible parking permit to be in possession of a fishing license. This one way the governments in Canada help someone better their circumstances. I am not an avid fisher. On the occasions when I do this I really enjoy the time I spend in nature.

This is one less thing for me to keep track of being in progress. I am trying my best to help myself. I am glad this has arrived.
