Power Wheelchair Bearing Adjustment, Electric Hot Water Tank Timer And Curtain Rod Installed

My friend Joe stopped by my home to do a few chores for me that I find too physically challenging. He has been a truly wonderful friend. None of what I need help with is hard or technical. But these chores are too physically challenging for me to complete on my own.

  • I've been experiencing caster flutter on my power wheelchair. There are 3 reasons why this might be happening. The easiest solution to resolve this is torquing the steam bearing after a bearing settles following maintenance. Joe is a mechanic. This is very easy for someone with his skills to do. But it didn't fix the problem. There is a lot of play in the wheel. This could mean the stem bearings are worn out. Alternatively the remaining reason this is happening is on account of a bent caster fork. I will need to speak with the technician that serviced my power wheelchair to get to the bottom of why this is happening.
  • I also needed help putting up the new curtain rod. I was only able to do enough to maintain privacy for while I am changing my clothes. It is way too physically challenging for me to drill the holes for the plugs and tighten the screen. This now gets the curtain properly installed and replacing the black garbage bag I had temporarily covering the window for privacy when my plastic blind crumbled in my hand as I was dusting. I am really glad that this is done. That black garbage bag was off gassing and irritating my right eye. My eye is improving. Although this has been a really long process.
  • The final task I asked Joe to do for me was to set my electric hot water timer into the "always on" mode. I am planning to use the tub twice a day. It makes a big difference in the function of my legs. I feel so much better after I've used the tub. The upshot is the amount of hot water needed for two really warm soaks a day doesn't work when my electric water heater is limiting the amount of electricity my electric water heater has access to.

In addition to the practical help it has also been wonderful seeing Joe today and the conversation that happened as he was helping me. This was a nice visit besides getting a few things that needed doing completed.
