A Response From The Ontario Drug Benefit

On March 4th I wrote a letter to the Ontario Drug Benefit program. I wanted to ask if the pain management gel my pain specialist doctor prescribed is eligible for reimbursement under the "chronic conditions" criteria. One of their staff has responded to my letter. This is not an eligible expense. They responded with a link to the regulation guide that mandates this program. I am unsure of what I am going to do about this yet. This pain gel is about $140 CAD a month. I can't afford this with the disability benefits I am receiving. I need to make a trip to the pharmacy to discuss what alternatives might provide similar relief. The purpose of this gel is to spread on my knees so I have better quality of sleep at night. I am also trying to get back into the pain clinic to further discuss this with the pain specialist. I am sure this works out some how. I need to talk to people who have different skills than myself to know what is best.
