Sunflower Seeds For Rocky The Hamster: Try #2

Every now and then something happens that is very encouraging. It always amazes me where the encouragement comes from. I couldn't predict it. Nor could I plan it. Things I find very encouraging happen at such a regular frequency that it helps keep me going. This has happened again this evening.

Three days ago I attended my most recent social worker appointment helping me move on with my life after the death of my aunt. In fact something started to change for me following my social worker appointment on January 3rd. Instead of my aunt's death being a black hole in my life it is now like a speech caption bubble. It is becoming about memories instead of the void her death created. I am making sustainable gains moving on. After these appointments I have been buying some groceries. On January 28th I purchased Rocky the hamster more sunflower seeds.

Rocky wanted to send me a clear message last night. He wasn't eating the brand / style of sunflower seeds I was putting in for him. I hadn't realized this. Rocky made a pile of these in the center of his cage for me to see. I really enjoy caring for him. I love my little buddy. I wanted to get him new sunflower seeds now that I found his message to me.

I got myself all dressed and ready to go. Just as I was exiting my home the neighbour who is using my driveway this winter was parking his car. He immediately asked why I was going out and was concerned my power wheelchair would become stuck because of the light snow on the road surface. He wanted to go buy the same species of sunflower seeds I was feeding Rocky before I ran out. He wanted to save me the outing.

This was unexpected. With how much I love Rocky this meant a lot to me. I am really encouraged that someone would help me care for my little buddy. I genuinely don't have the words that someone has sacrificed 15 minutes to do this chore for me and in doing so helped me take care of Rocky.
