Delivery Of Home Depot Window Air Conditioner
[ Wednesday June 22nd 2022 at 2:16 pm ]

The window air conditioner that I ordered is here. I am absolutely amazed. Home Depot Canada has far exceeded my expectations. This has been quite a journey to get it. I am so glad it is here.

About 3 years ago I saw a new design for a window air conditioner on one of the group fund raising platforms that raise money. This window air conditioner was very innovation. It was designed as a "U" shape. This keeps the sound of the compression and the fan that runs cooling down the refrigerant is kept out of the house. It appealed to me. However I didn't have the financial means to buy one of these at the time.

At summer 2021 was winding down there was a horrible screeching sound coming from the window air conditioner. It was the "nails on chalkboard" sound. This was to the point that the window air conditioner was no longer really usable. After receiving this as a gift about a decade ago and the previous owner using it for 5 years or so I wasn't disappointed and happy to shop for a new one.

In early April I found the same model I saw on the crowd fund raising site a few years earlier and it was a a really great buy. However it was a pre-order on WalMart Canada for delivery on June 15th. My hope is that I could get through until then either without air conditioning or if it is possible clean out the window air conditioner that is wearing out.

We got to the middle of May and the temperature in my home was reaching the low 80 degree F. I wasn't comfortable. Something needed to give. I asked my friend that is a mechanic to take the cover off my window air conditioner and see if the fan broke, leaves or Manitoba maple keys are the source of the screeching sound. To both of our amazement the window air conditioner was packed full of dried leaves and Manitoba maple keys. They were causing the screech. A good clean out and the window air conditioner was good to go.

It still made sense to follow through with the new Midea window air conditioner purchase. The model I placed on pre-order is rated for 10,000 BTU. It is replacing a 5,000 BTU model. I am sure the extra strength will be helpful.

June 15th came and went without my pre-order shipping. An e-mail update showed June 17th. When we reached the afternoon of June 17th and no tracking number was provided I contacted WalMart Canada directly to find out the status of my order. I was told the manufacturer hasn't shipped their order. They have no ETA for delivery.

I began looking around to see where else I could order the same model from. At the time my plan was to move the old window air conditioner to the shed in order to make it barable while I do the woodworking portion of my laser engraver production. I ultimately discovered Home Depot Canada sold this model, including delivery, for $80 more than the WalMart Canada pre-order price. I cancelled my pre-order and placed an order with Home Depot Canada.

It has been 38 hours since I placed the order. The tracking number hasn't been updated and my new window air conditioner is here! I am absolutely amazed. My friend that is a mechanic will install it in my window on the weekend. I can't lift this because of what is wrong with my legs. I am okay with this. This will give time for the lubricant and refrigerant time to settle from being in transit. I don't want to have gone through all this just to have the window air conditioner damage itself. The use of air conditioning helps keep me comfortable with my chronic pain.
