Inquired If Discretionary Benefits Would Replace My Stairs So I Could Have A Chair Lift Installed
[ Tuesday June 14th 2022 at 12:24 am ]

Upstairs in my home is my bathtub and bedrooms. I've been instructed by my family doctors office to use really warm soaks in the tub (with Epson Salts) for pain control. They wanted me doing this daily. I am now down to 3 days a week as my knees have worsened in 2022. It was very difficult to access the upstairs to use the tub before my knees worsened in 2022. Now this has a very short life to continue going forward. The warm water helps a lot with the pain I experience. It isn't something I am wanting to give up.

I believe March For Dimes will approve me for the cost of a chair lift and the labour to install it. I meet their household income and disability criteria. This is helpful. But my stairs are out of vertical alignment with each other. In the technical diagrams I am not seeing 1½" of adjustment that would accommodate my stairs during the installation. I've contacted a program that might be able to cover the labour and building materials to do this renovation. I am at a "no" now. I don't have anything to loose in asking.
