Weather Station Mast Is Down

About two weeks ago I made a very disappointing discovery. The 6 inch x 6 inch post I purchased for my weather station sensor installation has an 8 foot vertical split in it. This size (and larger) post are prone to this. It is no longer structurally sound. I just had help removing the mast from the original weather station setup. I am glad the weight is off the post. The risk of collapse has been averted.
I still need to make a plan for what will replace the post. I am leaning towards an all metal setup. Still it has been very disappointing to have to start over for this reason. Of all the things that could have gone wrong I did not anticipate this as one of the options. For now I am going to focus on getting the sensor back setup and figure out a permanent solution in 2022.
