Celebration Of Life Service For My Aunt
[ Saturday August 7th 2021 at 6:09 pm ]

My aunt passed away from cancer. We have just had her celebration of life service. I wasn't able to attend in person. They streamed the funeral for me and other extended family members to watch. I am glad this is done. It was a chance to say "good bye".

This wasn't a sad service. I've been to funerals that were sad. This wasn't it. There is lots my aunt contributed to the family and the community where she lived. It was a chance to recall memories. They also shared some of her live in the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's. I've watched various world war 2 documentaries. It was neat learning what it was like in Canada at that time and what stood out to my aunt as a child.

I can't (practical speaking) make it to the cemetery. Instead I have ordered a hummingbird feeder. I am going to set this up on my property in memory of my aunt. I will have a 4" x 6" plaque made to attach to the tree above the hummingbird feeder. Once this arrives I will need to take the base up to the local hardware store to buy a bracket that will fasten to the tree and the hummingbird feeder sit on the bracket. I just need to see the bolt size so I may buy a suitable bracket. I am hopeful to get this in place by the end of August and likely get a custom plaque by mid September. Then I will have a special place to remember my aunt as I think of her during the coming years.
