Adding Trailer Hitch To My Power Wheelchair
[ Tuesday October 20th 2020 at 6:48 pm ]

Attempt #1 to add a mobility scooter trailer to my wheelchair is now in progress. I have added a trailer hitch to my power wheelchair. My measurements worked out. But the actual installation has revealed a new problem.

I didn't want to increase the turning radius of my power wheelchair. I still need to be able to use my wheelchair inside when the trailer isn't attached. But this means the mobility scooter trailer LED lighting junction box will crash into the wheelchair when turning corners or driving around parked vehicles. The answer is simple. I need to extend the tongue of the mobility scooter trailer. I will consult a friend who has lots of practical experience for any advice. Then proceed to make changes.

I am not discouraged. Many of my projects related to the power wheelchair require some tweaking. This is the 'setback' for this particular project. I am confident it is easy to overcome. I will get this sorted. I'm hopeful I will be able to begin pulling my mobility scooter trailer in about two weeks.
