Upstairs Hall Exhaust Fan Vent Re-Connected

A neighbor just spent about 40 minutes helping me. He re-connected my upstairs hall exhaust fan to the roof vent. This was installed in 2006 but not reconnected when the roof was re-shingled in 2010. The idea came from an old home owners reference book. This is an alternative method to air conditioning. The expected result is reducing the upstairs bedrooms to the same temperature it is outside. With smart switches connected to the upstairs bathroom and upstairs hall exhaust fans the heat is being pumped out spread throughout the day.
