More Insulation In Kitchen Attic

The young adult just finished the second part of adding a second layer of insulation to my kitchen attic. He has added another 5½" to where there wasn't a second layer of insulation in my kitchen attic. This will help increase the energy efficiency of my home.
I am wanting to invest in central air conditioning. This is to help keep me comfortable on account of the pain I experience. I wanted to do what I had control over to make my home as energy efficient as possible in preparation for this.
