Ordered More Insulation For My Attic And Some Drywall

I've been talking to one of the young adults I've known for about 5 years now. He is going to do something really special and practical for me. He is willing to do the physical installation of a second layer of insulation to my attic. It will add R22 to my existing insulation. This is equal to 5½" worth of insulation. In a home that is built now it would receive more than this. But in practical terms this will be the maximum insulation my home is able to have and retain sufficient air circulation in the attic.
I am planning to invest in central air conditioning. I don't mean "invest" in a financial sense. I've been told central air conditioning doesn't increase the value of a home upon resale. The investment is in my life. It is in keeping me comfortable. It is about keeping me optimized so I'm able to function and maximize my quality of life.
