Requested A Formal Appointment With My Pharmacist
[ Monday March 9th 2020 at 10:03 pm ]

In 2013 the hospital where my left hip joint was going to be replaced required that I have an assessment with my pharmacist as part of my pre-surgery screening. In part this was to ascertain my level of responsibility with my chronic pain medications. This was also to offer any other input that would be helpful for the process of anesthetizing me. This was a 20 minute appointment. I had a relationship with this pharmacist since 2006. It was a helpful discussion.

I am wanting to trigger a similar discussion. I am just having too much trouble with my chronic pain. It is now directly threatening my independence. If we can't get better control over my pain I'm going to have no choice but to start hiring in home care. I trust the pharmacist. With my family doctor on a 2 week vacation this is the best plausible help without involving someone new in my health care. I am trying to be responsible and make the best of my circumstances.
