Picked Up UPS Battery Backup Surge Protector For My Weather Station Sensor

I've been up to the local office supply store. I have picked up a UPS battery backup - surge protector for my weather station sensor. Staples Canada has graciously donated this to my weather station project. I wasn't expecting this. It is very kind of them.

I'm going to be modifying my weather station to be powered from the electrical grid using a DC power supply. The effort involved to change out the weather station sensor justifies the UPS battery backup - surge protector. I would need to rent a sky jack to change out the weather station sensor because it is roughly 22 feet off the ground. Powering the weather station sensor through the electrical grid exposes it to the risk of a power surge. The UPS battery backup - surge protector protects against this.

The UPS battery backup - surge protector serves a second function. This also provides backup battery power. This keeps the weather station online for about 4 hours during a power outage. The computer server that receivers the weather data and my Internet connection both have UPS battery backup - surge protectors. This is my system to provide continuity during a power outage. It has proven helpful. Where I live has above ground wiring. The power typically goes out about 8 times a year for up to 2 hours.
