Asked For Help Understanding The New Transit Route

The public transit where I live is tweaking the transit routes and the frequency of each bus effective September 8th 2026. What preceded this was the Government of Ontario limiting the publicly funded colleges enrolment of international students. For the community college where I live there were many programs ended and staff layoffs. Now this has impacted public transit. The public transit is reporting 600,000 less rides. The students of Loyalist College pay for their transit pass. It isn't an included benefit of attending the college. This easily amounts to around $2 million of revenue the public transit didn't generate. Now city counsel is having to compensate for a transit system that has less riders.
There are two ways this is affecting me:
- Although I have access to the para transit service I have been using public transit to attend the warm water therapy pool. With the physical pain and stamina of having recent surgery I haven't been able to plan ahead to book rides with the para transit service. My wait times will adjust as a result. I am not entirely disappointed by this. I bring my tablet and Bluetooth keyboard to work on content for my website (such as my blog) while waiting and between multiple uses of the warm water therapy pool on some days. I don't see the time as being wasted.
- The more immediate challenge this is creating for me is in understanding what bus route to use I am now needing to use when I get off at the VIA Rail station and am heading to a medical appointment in Kingston Ontario. The new route map has been published. But honestly I may as well be looking at the blueprints for a nuclear reactor with how little sense this is making to me. I have just sent an e-mail to the public transit customer service. It amounts to me explaining what I think I am seeing but I have no confidence that I am actually understanding correctly. Then I have thanked them for the time they will spend responding to me. I am always very grateful for the logistical support that facilitates me attending appointments for my medical treatment.
