Have An Appointment With My New Surgeon

When I had an appointment with the surgeon who replaced both of my artificial hips in 2025 and my right knee joint earlier this month he promised he would get me a surgeon to replace my other knee joint. He promised to talk to the orthopaedic surgeon and then prepare a referral that described my orthopaedic treatment over the past 2 years and formally recommending that my left knee joint be replaced. In the event this was declined he would approach other competent knee surgeon to operate on me.
I have known since March 2026 that he resigned effective August 2026. The surgeon who replaced both of my artificial hips and right knee accepted employment elsewhere in Ontario Canada that involves him being very hands on in teaching and mentoring the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. This tracks with how my surgeon has conducted his medical practice.
I've now found out that he was good for his word in a tangible way. I now have an initial appointment with the knee surgeon he asked to operate on me in early September 2026. The referral concerning my left knee joint was classified as 'urgent' and subsequently accepted as being urgent.
Earlier this week I learned how to move my right leg in the same fashion a football player would do so in kicking a field goal. However my right knee joint is still recovering from being replaced. I am still working through the stiffness. This means I am presently behind by 10 weeks of the ideal recovery period.
If we set aside that my body is going to heal and recover in it's own time the practical answer is end of September 2026 for my right knee joint to be able to move fluently. Then I have committed to an additional 3 weeks of physiotherapy just to be damn sure that the knee joint is recovered. I am wanting to be very sure that I am going to be able to use my artificial right knee joint as designed and be able to stand without my right leg being bent at the knee joint for the rest of my life.
The upshot is that the earliest I would want to have another surgery would be in November 2026. I would appreciate 2 or 3 weeks break from how gruelling the recovery from my right knee being replaced has been. Apart from this I am game for having another surgery and I am rather eager to evict my left knee joint for all the trouble it has caused me for the past 18 years.
There are still additional surgeries I need after this. Having my left knee joint replaced would help this process along.
