Spoke To DeWalt Technician Support About My Sump Pump Issues

I have an answer from DeWalt about the new sump pump I purchased. If I need further help I am welcome to speak to the same man again. My detail oriented e-mail articulating what was tried and the results I sent him last night.
What he wants to have happen is:
- Remove the protective grate at the bottom
- Use a hose to wash out the grit that is going to be near the top in the impeller
- Check if the impeller spins
- Repeat if the impeller doesn't spin
- Run a hose from the discharge pipe (at the top) while the pump runs for about 5 seconds to splash water everywhere to get any remaining grit out.
- To vacuum out the sump pump basin so no grit remains
- Install it on a brick or similar platform so the pump isn't on the bottom of my pit
- Then routine / regular monitoring of the sump pump pit and staying ahead of any grit
Small pebbles are able to pass through no problem. The manual was correct about sizes up to 12.7mm. Grit on the other hand interferes with the design of the pump. Specifically they need the impeller so close to the edge at the top so water is able to be sucked up. On the other hand sediment is the nemesis of a sump pump.
The technician would also be happy to call in the evening if the friend helping me requires this. The technician seems invested in this being successful. The technician was also sensitive to me being up front about my physical disability and how I explained this was affecting my setup of the sump pump. He simply wants to be helpful.
