December 2020 Newsletter Edition

Amazingly another year has come to an end. The month of December has passed quickly. I enjoy this time of year. Even with covid I've been able to celebrate Christmas.

I complete the Christmas light video for 2021. I enjoy working on this each year. I especially enjoyed recording the Christmas carols that play during the photo montage video. I have also started creating the 2021 edition. I went out to take photos just after Christmas to start preparing for the 2021 video before home owners start putting their Christmastime yard decorations away. I find preparing this video very rewarding. It is wonderful giving this video to people who otherwise wouldn't see the decorations because of a variety of ailments, physical limitations or the effort that would be needed to get a person to see the various yard decorations. With covid this has become exponentially more complicated.

I have made some more progress cleaning and organizing my home. I enjoy working on this. It is too bad I am only able to do short bursts at a time because of my physical disability. It is rewarding taking the items I no longer need to Value Village for donations. It is nice these end up helping someone else. I am hoping to keep plugging away at cleaning and re-organizing my home in the new year.

I made my year end Registered Disability Savings Plan contribution. The matching grant will be issued in January. Then in February I'll receive the written Statement Of Entitlement indicating the optimum amount I need to contribute to receive the matching grant funds. I am grateful for this. It is a very generous program for the severely disabled. I have provided my family doctor with a form to fill out. This is the routine screening the Federal Government of Canada requires of me to determine I remain eligible. There had been hope several times following my surgeries that I would make a recovery. It was the same with my physiotherapy efforts. I've not made the expected recovery. At this point it is routine.

I am amazed to see my dwarf banana plant growing. I am continuing to tweak my setup. I have purchased a dedicated water bottle for my dwarf banana plant for mixing up fertilizer on a regular basis. I am a bit concerned about the leaf color. I think some of the vibrant green is not present now. I am wondering if I am going to end up buying a grow light. I will monitor the plant closely and make a decision in early January. Taking care of the plant has turned into a fun daily chore.
