I Took A Step Without A Mobility Aid!

I just took my first few steps without needing a mobility aid. My artificial knee joint was ready for use right out of surgery. My artificial knee doesn't come with a set of bending restrictions like I am use to having following hip surgery. My surgeon told me to use it as I could tolerate the pain. It is really nice to give it a proper test. When I took these steps it was natural. There are times when I know I need my crutches to support me as I walk. I had confidence that my right knee joint could handle me taking a few steps without anything supporting me.
I sure have a lot of healing to do. My knee and most of my right leg is very swollen. But this doesn't change the fact that my new artificial knee joint worked for me just now. I couldn't be more happy. Seeing all the swelling in my right leg has had me concerned during the past few days. I didn't want to wreck my life over having knee replacement surgery. It is really great getting some use of it.
