Gary The Hamster Passed Away

My hamster Gary has passed away. He went into a coma 4 days ago. I knew this would lead to his death. I am not surprised that he has died. About 4 months ago Gary developed a sinus cavity infection. This is an old hamster problem. Hamster teeth grow throughout their life. When young hamsters gnaw and it prevents a sinus cavity infection. Unfortunately his other sinus cavity became infected a few weeks ago. The infection over took his body. The last time I saw Gary walking he kept falling over. Gary wasn't able to coordinate the use of his 4 paws. This was just before he went into a coma. I knew he would die shortly.
I am not going to get another hamster right away. I am still healing from my artificial hips being replaced. Also I don't want to just have a hamster in my home. I want to spend time with it. I have a CCTV camera I keep open on my computer screen so the hamster may use it's body language to communicate what it wants from me. I also enjoy sharing the CCTV camera online for others to enjoy my hamster. So I am going to wait until my body is stronger to get the next one. The 2 surgeries I had in 2025 to replace my artificial hips haven't given me more mobility. I am having problems with both of my knees and both of my ankles. At a minimum I need to heal from the hip replacement before I will be able to care for a hamster.
