A Helpful Appointment With My Family Doctor

I've had the next appointment with my family doctor. It was for my pain control. I've had time to talk with my family doctor about what transpired after my unsuccessful viscosupplementation injections. I am very thankful he agrees with a discussion with the surgeon who replaced my hip joints about replacing my knee joints as the next step. He also wants to consider stem cell transplants into my knee joints.

I don't want to get into more surgeries right now. I don't have a track record to support a successful outcome. I need to get my day to day life under control again. As a person I need a break from where each day is about recovering. The past 3½ years of physiotherapy has been an endurance test. I need to get rested up again so I am operating my life at what is my best. At this point I find surgery very risky. I do want to know if knee replacement surgery would be offered to me here in Canada.

I have a lot of doubt over a stem cell transplant to my knee joints being successful. With my knee joints not being responsive to the viscosupplementation injections the burden placed on a stem cell transplant for it to be successful is great. I really don't see how this could be effective and actually restore my knee joints. I tend to think of this as the recurring pattern in the conservative treatment: If it had been offered to me 10 years ago it would be helpful. I think I am past where a stem cell knee transplant is able to be a reliable result.
