Non Perishable Grocery Order Delivered
[ Wednesday August 30th 2017 at 10:02 am ]
My non perishable grocery order has been delivered. The scheduler I spoke to by phone yesterday indicated this would occur in the afternoon. I am indifferent when the delivery takes place. I am not in the least upset. I don't want when my groceries are going to be delivered. I will need to follow up with the scheduler who contacted me yesterday so there is continuity in what we arrange by phone and when the delivery actually occurs.
The following is the menu I've planned for myself during September 2017:
-
Breakfast:
- Apple oatmeal
- "Fiber 1" cereal
-
Lunch & Dinner Meals:
- Tomato - Pea - Onion - Rice Soup
- Chicken Fajitas
- Chicken - Veggie - Rice Soup
- Bean Salad
- I've just recently made Beef Stew and have 14 meals of it in my freezer already
-
Snacking Foods:
- Trail Mix With: Raisins, Peanuts, Almonds, Sunflower Seeds, Dark Chocolate Chips, Oatmeal
- Oatmeal - Raisin Cookies
- Oatmeal Mixed With Yogurt
- Fruit: Apples, Bananas, Grapes
- Rice Pudding With Raisins And Cinnamon
There is a limited amount of perishable groceries I will need to buy at a grocery store. Primarily the remaining items are: Yogurt, Butter, Cheese, Onions, Eggs, Chicken, Frozen Mixed Veggies
I also want to try something new this month. I've seen videos documenting life before the industrial revolution. I've see how you may use apple peelings to make home made jam. This involves simmering the apple peelings to get the natural pectin out of them for use in jam. I don't use a lot of sugar. I usually substitute sugar with apple juice and honey.
I've decided to try something new this month. I purchased a bag of powdered milk. I am wondering if this is a better alternative than the bags, cartons or jugs of milk I've purchased in the past. My plan is to experiment with this when I make rice pudding, apple oatmeal and when I have friends over and serve them coffee.
Part of why I decided to do this is I am open to ideas that may help improve my quality of life. I don't know everything. It is amazing the things I've learned talking to a nursing home worker who frequently attends the swimming pool 'Family - Youth' time slot I make use of.
